Our Staff

Dr. Jay Chanmugam is an experienced physician who has been caring for patients in the Orange City and Central Florida community for more than two decades. His background spans family medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine and clinical research.

He has served as Owner and Medical Director of Prompt Care of Central Florida since 2010 and of Genesis Family Practice in Orange City since 2012. His career also includes many years as an emergency medicine physician and clinical research as a principal and sub-investigator.

Patients know Dr. Jay for his straightforward, no-nonsense approach to medicine. He believes in being honest with his patients, explaining things clearly and getting directly to the heart of their health concerns.

Tavis Cross, MSN, APRN, is an experienced Nurse Practitioner and healthcare leader with more than 20 years of experience in patient care, nursing leadership, clinical research and healthcare operations.

He works alongside Dr. Jay Chanmugam at Genesis Family Practice providing primary care and serves patients at Prompt Care as an Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner. He has also held leadership roles at AdventHealth Translational Research Institute, overseeing clinical trials, research operations and nursing teams.

His healthcare career began in the U.S. Army, where he served as a Sergeant, Licensed Practical Nurse and EMT-B. He earned his Master of Science in Nursing from the University of West Florida and is committed to compassionate, patient-centered care.
